The Amarna3D project was created by Paul Docherty to explore what the city of Akhetaten might have looked like in ancient times through 3D modelling and digital archaeology. Incorporating data collected from past and ongoing excavations at Amarna, the Amarna3D project serves as a visual tool for students, researchers and those interested in the Amarna period.

The site is regularly updated with 3D visualisations of the city itself or areas of particular interest.
Future updates to the site will include interactive 3D views of the preserved ruins as well as virtual tours of the reconstructed areas, e.g. the Great Aten Temple.
