Block sponsors wanted!
The idea of using limestone blocks as financial support for the excavation and reconstruction work in the Great Aten Temple was born in 2018.
Since then, hundreds of blocks have been sponsored by Amarna enthusiasts from all over the world and inscribed according to individual wishes.
The accompanying certificates with photos have developed into a unique gift idea that is very popular (see also under Membership).
The blocks were cut to the exact original size (52cm x 26cm) in the Tura quarries near Cairo, which already supplied building material for the pyramids of Giza, and serve to make the basic structure of the Per Aten, the 'House of Aten', visible to visitors and locals alike.
The orthomosaic above, created by Paul Docherty (www.amarna3d.com), shows the progress of the work after the end of the 2022 fall season.
All offering tables were sponsored by private individuals. A big thank you at this point!
Unfortunately, there is still no news regarding our work permit for 2024, so we are currently unable to predict when work at the Great Aten Temple will continue. As soon as we have positive news, we will post an update on our fundraising campaign on https://www.gofundme.com/be-part-of-the-great-aten-temple .
